They have three adult sons: Carl Jr. (34) married to Suzette with 3 children, Zach and Rachel, (5 year old twins), and (4 month old) Eric; Bill (30) married to Tracy with 2 children, Lauren (9) and Tyler (8); and Greg (26) married to Carissa with 2 children, Hailey (6) and Johnathon (3). They all live within five miles of each other in Illinois. Carl and Linda own ten acres with a big red barn. They have two horses, a colt, two dogs, chickens, and a rooster.

The Hayes began home bible studies in 1988. As the founding pastor of Grace Bible Church, Carl taught the adults as Linda taught the children. The church bought a building and renovated it for three years. Finally in 1997, they held their first meeting in the main part of the building. Sunday afternoons are always family time!
