that they teach the young women to be sober. to love their husbands, to love their children.

to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed". Titus 2:3-5

Good Things for Ladies by Dorothy Woodall

FORGETTING THINGS IN THE PAST

Brethren. I count not myself to have apprehended hut this one thing! do. forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which arc before Phil 3 13

For the past few years I have had the privilege of working with ladies who have been incarcerated. Through the bible studies I have had. a number of them have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. During these studies it had been important for them to understand that once the have trusted Jesus Christ as their personal savior. they are to forget those things that are behind.

As we studied the book of Philippians, we saw how Paul admonished them, and subsequently we began to see the women truly Understanding about doing things without murmuring (Phil. 2:14). and being like-minded (Phil. 2:5). "Let nothing he done through strife or vainglory: but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things. But every man alsoon the things of others. Let this mind he in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" Phil. 2:3-5.

As these ladies come to understand about putting the things of their past behind them, they then can learn to walk by faith in some of the areas Paul teaches them. He warned them not to have confidence in the flesh (Phil. 3:4) and gave his credentials, stating that what he did he counted loss for Christ (Phil. 3:5-7). He wanted them to see the excellency of the knowledge of Christ (Phil. 3:8a). As he suffered the loss of all things, he counted them as dung to win Christ (Phil. 3:8b).

The ladies have been excited to see the old things passing away (2 Cor. 5:17) as they received the word with all readiness of mind (Acts 17:11) and their lives beginning to change.

May I encourage you today, who are still holding on to areas of the past, to do as Paul admonishes us, as believers, to do? . . forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before," Phil. 3: 13b.
